Canon ZR-700 MiniDV Camcorder

Looked into upgrade my old Sony Hi-8 camcorder to a hard drive camcorder but found that the technology still needs a year or more to fully mature. Right now, the compression needed to record to a hard drive or mini DVD results in video quality that is the same or inferior to the current technology, MiniDV. So, for a fraction of the cost, I went with a more basic MiniDV Canon camcorder. I've included some pictures below. Isn't the size difference amazing!


One nice feature about this Canon is that it records in a widescreen format (as you can see in the LCD screen comparison below).

Looks like the Sony is going to eat the Canon!
